JPG to PNG online
Add a JPG and get a PNG with no further compression. Everything runs in your browser and photos stay on your device.
Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF. Up to 25 files at once, 40 MB per file; up to 13 megapixels on mobile and 24 megapixels on desktop.
What converting JPG to PNG does
PNG is lossless: once an image is saved in this format it stops losing quality. That helps if you will edit and re-save it several times.
Note that PNG will not bring back detail already lost to JPG compression, and by itself it does not make a background transparent. A PNG made from a photo is usually noticeably larger than the source JPG.
How to convert photos
1. Add your photos
Drop files into the window or pick them on your device. You can process up to 25 photos at once.
2. Choose a format
JPG, PNG or WebP. Conversion starts immediately; change quality or file size in the settings and the result updates.
3. Download the result
Save each file separately or everything together as one ZIP archive.
What changes when you convert
- This tool exports a still image. Live Photo motion, depth data and HDR information are not preserved; HEIC is rendered as a standard SDR image.
- EXIF and GPS metadata from the source are not copied to the new file. Keep your original if you need capture information.
- JPG and lossy WebP can change fine details. A size target is an estimate, not a guaranteed maximum.
Frequently asked questions
Will the photo look better after converting to PNG?
No. PNG does not restore detail lost in JPG — it only stops further loss on later saves.
Why is the PNG heavier?
PNG stores the image losslessly while JPG compresses with loss. For photos PNG is usually several times larger.
Can I remove the background while converting?
No, the converter only changes the format. Transparency does not appear on its own: removing a background requires an editor.
Is it free, and are my photos uploaded to a server?
The converter is free and needs no account or credits. Photos are processed in your browser on your device and are not uploaded to a server. Source EXIF and GPS metadata are not copied to the new file.
